The OIMR project is a social initiative of the Peruvian government, that aims to extend mobile cellular networks to regions with no prior service. Andesat Peru, as a part of Andesat Group, has been working for more than two years towards achieving the perfect combination for extending satellite connectivity in areas known as greenfield.

We arrived at lesser populated areas first, rural areas that are really isolated and without connectivity of any kind. Places where the need is more urgent. The first deployment involves 154 locations. Our prevision is to connect 400 villages towards 2021.

We’re no alone in this. We needed partners that could be up to the challenge. Andesat Peru is part of a solution that relies on ZTE as the main equipment provider, on the ST Engineering satellite network and on satellite capability provided by Intelsat. A tremendous effort by all, and a commitment that is showing very good results.
